Why we give back!

We have been involved in tourism for nearly 2 decades (see our About Us) and have experienced firsthand the positive and negative impacts tourism can have on the world.

So, when the time came to plan and launch Radelaide Tours, it was paramount that we were a socially and environmentally conscious company. We wanted to put environmental and community considerations at the forefront of what we do whilst also providing outstanding experiences to our guests.

How we give back!

Reduce use of single plastics
Recycle
Use local South Australian Products
Cater for accessibility and mobility needs
Acknowledge indigenous heritage and culture
Donate to the Hutt St Centre

To help us meet this goal we wish to reduce our effect on the environment and give back to our local community that we run our tours amongst. As part of our operations we have concentrated on reducing our use of single use plastics, recycling products we use and using local South Australian products to ensure the local economy is being supported by our business. We strive to offer experiences that cater to those with accessibility and mobility requirements. We acknowledge the local indigenous heritage of our area and promote indigenous products and businesses.

This is why we have pledged to give $2 per person to support local  charities.

The local charities that we are supporting are:

1.Ngutu College

We operate on Kaurna lands and want to empower the next generation of First Nations people, so that their culture can be preserved and shared with visitors and locals alike. Ngutu College is an independent, not-for-profit, socially-just college on Kaurna Country in Adelaide. Learning opportunities acknowledge and engage the individuality of all, in which Aboriginal knowledge is seamlessly integrated with the formal curriculum.

2. Friends of the S.A State Library

Is the oldest Friends of the Library group in Australia, and have supported the State Library of SA for over eight decades. As we visit this cultural institution on 3 of our tours, we wish to give support, so it can be enjoyed by future generations.

3. The Hutt St Centre

A non-profit business based in Adelaide city where people facing homelessness are empowered to rebuild their lives. This is through the provision of services ranging from medical check-ups to education and employment opportunities.

These charities support:

  • Aboriginal cultural preservation and education.
  • SA heritage preservation and education.
  • Empowering homeless people to rebuild their lives.
We have donated over $1700 to these charities.

These donations have allowed the following:

Ngutu College:

  • Contributed to the Scholarship Fund which helps empower every child to thrive and keep education equitable for all. Allowing more First Nations children to gain an education.
  • Contributed to their building fund, helping create spaces that support a wide range of educational opportunities including advanced technologies, sustainable industries and food security.

Friends of the State Library of South Australia:

  • Purchasing items that enhance and contribute to the library’s collections and SA cultural preservation.
  • Run various events and programs of interest to a wide audience that helps educate them on SA culture and heritage.

Hutt St Centre:

  • To provide 20 people with Xmas lunch.
  • Sponsored Angel for a Day Program which provided 200 meals for those experiencing homelessness.
  • Provided support for an 8-week training session, empowering someone to gain the skills to pursue opportunities for education, training and employment.
